Mymensingh Medical College is a public medical college in Mymensingh. Ulkaa lists 1962 as its founding year. It teaches the MBBS degree and is affiliated with University of Dhaka.

The story starts in 1924, when the Earl of Lytton opened Lytton Medical School as a four-year institution. In 1962 it was upgraded and renamed Mymensingh Medical College, and the MBBS course began with 32 students. Ulkaa lists 1962 as the college's founding year. The campus moved to its present 84-acre site at Charpara in 1972.

Entry to the MBBS course at a public medical college goes through the national MBBS and BDS admission test, held once a year under the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) of the Ministry of Health. For the 2025-26 session the test was held on 12 December 2025. Prothom Alo reported 122,632 applicants and a pass mark of 40 out of 100, with 66.57 percent passing. Government colleges offered 5,645 seats that year, 5,100 for MBBS and 545 for BDS.

The test score alone does not decide a place. As Prothom Alo described it, the merit ranking adds the SSC GPA multiplied by 8, the HSC GPA multiplied by 12 and the test marks, with deductions for some repeat candidates. Candidates then list their preferred colleges and seats are filled by merit and preference. Results are posted on dgme.gov.bd, dghs.gov.bd and result.dghs.gov.bd.

Mymensingh Medical College fills its seats through this central system. Which seats go to which colleges is decided each year from the merit list and the preferences that candidates submit. Rules change between sessions, so check the current circular before you apply.

The main programme is the MBBS. Ulkaa lists 225 MBBS seats for 2025, taken from the medical college list on Wikipedia and not yet checked against the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) or the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). Seat numbers are fixed each year, so treat this as a guide and confirm it in the current admission circular.

For a medical student the attached hospital is where clinical training happens, so the hospital's size and wards matter as much as the lecture halls.
