Rajshahi Medical College is a public medical college in Rajshahi. Ulkaa lists 1958 as its founding year. It teaches the MBBS degree and is affiliated with Rajshahi Medical University.

After 1947 the Rajshahi region had no medical education. Local leaders started a private medical school in 1949 that offered the LMF diploma. The government took it over in 1954 and launched a full medical college four years later, in 1958, on about 90 acres. The first hospital building opened in 1965 with 530 beds.

Entry to the MBBS course at a public medical college goes through the national MBBS and BDS admission test, held once a year under the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) of the Ministry of Health. For the 2025-26 session the test was held on 12 December 2025. Prothom Alo reported 122,632 applicants and a pass mark of 40 out of 100, with 66.57 percent passing. Government colleges offered 5,645 seats that year, 5,100 for MBBS and 545 for BDS.

The test score alone does not decide a place. As Prothom Alo described it, the merit ranking adds the SSC GPA multiplied by 8, the HSC GPA multiplied by 12 and the test marks, with deductions for some repeat candidates. Candidates then list their preferred colleges and seats are filled by merit and preference. Results are posted on dgme.gov.bd, dghs.gov.bd and result.dghs.gov.bd.

Rajshahi Medical College fills its seats through this central system. Which seats go to which colleges is decided each year from the merit list and the preferences that candidates submit. Rules change between sessions, so check the current circular before you apply.

The attached hospital is Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Wikipedia reports 862 beds, made up of 530 in the 1965 building and 352 in a newer block opened in 2012. Ulkaa has no verified bed count of its own yet. The college also teaches BDS, which began in 1992.

For a medical student the attached hospital is where clinical training happens, so the hospital's size and wards matter as much as the lecture halls.
