Premier University

Premier University is a private university in Chattogram, established in 2002. It has six faculties and is also written as Premier University, Chittagong. The Ulkaa Edu Rank 2027 places Premier University in the 41-50 band. The position is computed from the published methodology. UGC figures record 6,205 students (2023) and 254 teachers, 39 of them with a PhD (2023).

The Ulkaa Edu Rank draws on indicators such as first-year intake, research output and citations per work, the share of teachers with a PhD, students per teacher and recognition in QS and THE tables. Each indicator has a published weight and a stated data year, so a band is a summary of public data and not a verdict on any one programme.

Wikipedia gives its motto as "Centre of excellence for quality learning". The university runs an American Corner Chattogram, a partnership that began in 2003 and reopened in 2023. Students have taken part in the ICPC programming contest and the NASA Space Apps Challenge.

The idea of a higher education institution in Chattogram came in 1998 from the former mayor of Chattogram City Corporation, ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury. A project proposal went to the Ministry of Education in May 2001, the university officially began on 5 December 2001, and academic programmes started in January 2002. In 2012 the UGC gave initial approval for a permanent campus, and in 2021 the Ministry of Education gave formal approval, which Wikipedia says made it the first private university in Chittagong to receive this recognition. The university held its third convocation in 2022 and operates under the authority of the Chattogram City Corporation.

Premier University admits students at the undergraduate level for the programmes listed on its official website (http://www.puc.ac.bd). UGC data records 2,198 new admissions in 2023. Entry requirements, test dates, seat numbers and deadlines change every session, so confirm them with the admissions office or the official notice before you apply. Applicants generally need an HSC or equivalent result. Before you apply, compare the programme you want against the current UGC and accreditation information, ask the department about class schedules and lab access, and visit the campus if you can. The six faculties are Business Studies, Law, Engineering, Arts, Science and Social Sciences. Engineering includes architecture, computer science, and electrical and electronic engineering; Wikipedia says the EEE department is BAETE accredited under the Washington Accord. Ulkaa counts 21 programmes for 2027 and records 8 with accreditation data in 2026.

Business Studies has five departments: Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management and Marketing, with BBA, MBA and EMBA degrees. Law offers the LLB and a one-year LLM, and Computer Science and Engineering offers a BSc and an MSc. Arts includes English and Bangla at both honours and master's level, as well as fashion design and technology.

The permanent campus address is 541 O.R. Nizam Road, Panchlaish, Chattogram. Wikipedia notes that academic programmes and facilities such as computer labs, engineering labs and design studios are spread across more than one location in the city.

Wikipedia lists the academic buildings. Building 3 at WASA Circle, Dampara houses Business Studies, Mathematics, Fashion Design and Architecture. Building 4 on Hazari Lane, Kotwali houses Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Law and Economics. Building 5 at GEC Circle houses English, Sociology and Public Health and is the central admission office. Laboratories include circuits and electronics, machines and power systems, communication and microprocessor, PLC and simulation labs.
