How the Ulkaa Edu Rank works

Overview

University of Asia Pacific (UAP) is a private university in Dhaka. Its campus is on Green Road in Farmgate, an urban setting close to the city's main commercial and residential districts. The university is sponsored by a non-profit body, the University of Asia Pacific Foundation, and operates under the Private University Act.

Rankings and data

  • QS Asia University Rankings 2026: band 901-950.
  • Ulkaa Edu Rank 2027: band 31-40 among universities. This band is computed from the published Ulkaa methodology.

Data held by Ulkaa for 2023 shows 7,956 students, 332 teachers (119 with a PhD) and 2,710 new admissions. Twenty-two programmes are listed for 2027. In 2026, five programmes were counted as accredited: three by BAETE, one by BAR and one by the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh.

UAP is known mostly as an engineering, architecture and business university in central Dhaka. If you are comparing it with other private universities, look at the programme you want rather than the overall band alone, because strength differs a good deal between departments.

UAP was set up under the Private University Act 1992 and gives 1996 as its year of establishment, the same year Ulkaa records. Wikipedia names Hedayat Ahmed as the first Vice Chancellor from September 1995. Its founder Vice Chancellor was Hedayat Ahmed, and it grew out of the University of Asia Pacific Foundation.

The university started with a few engineering and business programmes in Dhaka and widened its range over time. It now runs seven schools: Engineering, Environmental Science and Design, Business, Humanities and Social Science, Law, Medicine (which houses Pharmacy) and Science.

Its campus is on Green Road in Farmgate, and it lists accreditation or membership with bodies such as the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Admission

UAP announces admission before each semester. Applicants pick a school and programme, apply through the university's process and meet the academic requirements for that programme. Architecture and engineering usually set requirements that differ from business or humanities, so read the circular for your programme.

Ulkaa does not give tuition or fee figures here. Contact the admission office for the current fee schedule, scholarship rules and dates.

Before applying, check the programme's accreditation status, the credit load and the duration. Applicants with foreign certificates should ask about equivalence early. Official website: http://www.uap-bd.edu

Programs

The seven schools cover:

  • Engineering: Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • Environmental Science and Design: Architecture.
  • Business: BBA, MBA and EMBA.
  • Humanities and Social Science: English.
  • Law: Law and Human Rights.
  • Medicine: Pharmacy.
  • Science: Basic sciences and humanities courses that support the other schools.

The programme list stored by Ulkaa also includes Bachelor of Architecture, MSc in Civil Engineering and a master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Engineering programmes have been assessed by BAETE, and public records list the Washington Accord and the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh among its accreditation bodies, alongside the Institute of Architects Bangladesh and the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh.

If you plan to work abroad in engineering, ask which programmes carry accreditation that your target country accepts, and check the official site for the latest list.

Research and campus life

The Farmgate campus is in the middle of Dhaka, so students reach it from across the city without a long campus commute.

The university lists specialised laboratories for engineering, chemistry, pharmacy research and environmental work.

With close to eight thousand students in 2023, the campus is busy but compact. Student clubs, programming contests and cultural events are usually announced on the official website and social pages. Ask the university which activities are active this year.
