Uttara University

Uttara University is a private university in Dhaka, established in 2003 under the Private University Act of 1992. It stands in Uttara, near the Uttara North metro rail station, and the President of Bangladesh serves as its Chancellor.

In Ulkaa Edu Rank 2027 it sits in the 31-40 band, computed from the published methodology. QS Asia University Rankings 2026 place it in the 1401-1500 band. THE World University Rankings 2027 list it as a Reporter, meaning a reporting institution that is not ranked.

Uttara University was founded in 2003 by the DAR Trust (Dr. M Azizur Rahman Trust), whose members include business leaders, economists and educators. Founder M. Azizur Rahman later led the university as Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Eaysmin Ara Lekha has held that post since 2023.

Wikipedia reports that in July 2023 the university moved to a newly built permanent campus in Uttara.

In 2023 the ratio was about 19 students per teacher, against about 21 in 2022 and about 19 in 2021. The teaching staff stayed near 330 through 2021 and 2022, then rose to 513 in 2023.
