THE World University Rankings 2027: Bangladesh Universities

Times Higher Education published the THE World University Rankings 2027 on 30 September 2026. On Ulkaa Campus the edition records 25 Bangladeshi institutions (15 public, 9 private and 1 of other types). American International University-Bangladesh, Daffodil International University, Jahangirnagar University and North South University share the top national position, all at 801-1000.

Who appears and where

The leading entries in this edition are American International University-Bangladesh (801-1000), Daffodil International University (801-1000), Jahangirnagar University (801-1000), North South University (801-1000), Bangladesh Agricultural University (1001-1200) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (1001-1200). For readers who search by name, that puts the University of Dhaka at 1001-1200, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology at 1001-1200 and North South University at 801-1000. Another 10 Bangladeshi institutions (Asian University for Women, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Dhaka International University, Green University of Bangladesh, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, State University of Bangladesh, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, Uttara University, Varendra University and World University of Bangladesh) are listed with Reporter status, which means they supplied data to THE but did not receive a rank.

Reading ranks and bands

A rank such as 600 is a single position. A band such as 1001-1200 means the publisher grouped several institutions together and did not order them inside the band, so two institutions in the same band are tied. A value ending in a plus sign, for example 1401+, means the institution is in the last published band. Ulkaa Campus shows the rank exactly as the publisher printed it and never converts a band into a single number.

What THE measures

Times Higher Education scores universities on 18 indicators grouped into five pillars. Teaching carries 29.5 percent, with teaching reputation worth 15 percent and the rest split between staff-to-student ratio, the doctorate-to-bachelor's ratio, doctorates awarded per academic staff member and institutional income. Research environment carries 29 percent: research reputation 18 percent, research income 5.5 percent and research productivity 5.5 percent. Research quality carries 30 percent through citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence. International outlook carries 7.5 percent and industry 4 percent, the latter through industry income and patents. THE lists these weights on its methodology page for the 2026 edition and has used this 18-indicator structure since its 2024 edition. Universities that provide data but do not meet the eligibility criteria are shown with Reporter status and receive no rank. Because THE publishes exact ranks only near the top and wide bands further down, almost every Bangladeshi entry appears as a band rather than a single number.
