Ulkaa University Ranking 2027: Bangladesh Universities

Ulkaa Edu Rank 2027 is Ulkaa's independent ranking of Bangladeshi universities, built from public and Ulkaa-collected data with a data cut-off of 2 October 2026. This is the overall table. It includes public, private, special and international-sector universities that Ulkaa could compare, 78 in all (35 public, 43 private).

At the top of the overall table are Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, University of Dhaka and Bangladesh Agricultural University, in that order. The ranking is published by Ulkaa and is not affiliated with the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), QS or Times Higher Education.

How positions are decided

Positions 1 to 14 follow Ulkaa's admission competitiveness assessment. Ulkaa compiles it from data collected from the universities themselves: entrance competition, the number of applicants and merit. The order of those fourteen institutions is fixed for the 2027 edition and is disclosed in the methodology notes. Every category table keeps that relative order, so a university in the top fourteen overall keeps its relative place in the public, private, division and subject views.

From position 15 onward, institutions are ordered by a score computed from the published methodology (version 2027.1) using open data only. National University, Bangladesh Open University and Islamic Arabic University are left out because their figures cover affiliated colleges or distance learners and cannot be compared with campus universities. Suspended institutions are not ranked. An institution with too little public data for a fair score is shown as not ranked rather than given a low score.

Scores

The scores run from 96 at position 1 down in steps of 1.5 to 76.5 at position 14. Institutions from position 15 are scaled so that the best of them scores just under position 14, which keeps the two groups from overlapping. A score is a way to read the order, not a measurement of quality in itself.

What the formula measures

For institutions ranked by formula, the 2027.1 methodology scores twelve indicators using only public data. Demand carries 25 percent in total: applicants per seat, new admissions and intake growth, depending on whether admission runs through an entrance test or is open. Research output carries 15 percent and research citations 10 percent, both from OpenAlex. Faculty with a PhD and students per teacher carry 10 percent each, taken from UGC annual reports. Global recognition carries 10 percent and uses only the rank or band QS and THE published. International co-authorship, accreditation of programmes, programme breadth and web presence carry 5 percent each. Missing public data lowers an institution's coverage but never its score, and below 60 percent coverage an institution is shown as not ranked.

Every input is stored with its year and source, and the methodology is frozen once an edition is published. Corrections made after publication go into the next edition. The full indicator table and the reference years are on the methodology page at campus.ulkaa.com.
